Train Information
Lessons take place at Trent Valley Equestrian Centre
every Wednesday during term time from 1.30pm - 5pm and some groups on the weekend.
They are each an hour long and are group lessons of 4-8 riders per group.
Beginners and pre-Novice lessons start at 1.30pm and Learners and Novice lessons start from 2.30pm. Intermediate lessons start at 4pm. There will also be one beginner block on Saturdays and Advanced lessons are on Sundays at 3pm.
Trent Valley is easily accessible by a train from Nottingham station to Fiskerton, or you may be driven to your lesson. More information will be sent to you when the final
lesson lists are sent out at the beginning of
the week.
When are lessons?

To get involved join our Facebook group or email us:
You will then be able to sign up through the weekly sign up
forms and you'll be informed whether you will be getting a
lift or the train to your lesson.
Lessons cost £11 if you are getting the train,
£16 if you're being driven and £6 if you are
a driver. You can pay through our SU website
by card or contact our Lessons Secretary
if you need to pay in cash.
It is most important to wear comfortable clothes
to ride in.
In winter it can get quite cold so wear a jumper or long sleeved top. If you don't have jodhpurs, leggings or stretchy jeans (that are flexible and won't rip) can be worn.
Wear flat shoes with a well defined heel and no laces; Trent Valley do have some riding boots you can borrow if you have no suitable shoes.
Riding hats and body protectors are
also available to borrow.

What levels are there?
I don't know anyone?
Beginner
For those who have never ridden before, or still picking up the basics (stop, go,
steer, rising trot). See our Beginners page for more information.
Learners
For those who can walk, trot and steer but improving confidence when trotting on your own.
Pre-Novice
For those who know the basics but are still working on improving them. Who have not
cantered before or have only done so a few times. You may have trotted over poles or
small cross-jumps but this is not essential.
Novice
For those who can walk, trot and canter comfortably and have done some jumping. Looking to gain confidence, improve technique, and do some more jumping. Introduction to lateral work.
Intermediate
For those who can confidently work through all three gaits. Are comfortable without stirrups. Have jumped to about 60cm. Knowledge of lateral movements is preferred (eg. turn on the forehand
and leg yield).
Advanced
For those who can work a horse in an outline. Are comfortable through all three gaits
with and without stirrups. Are confident jumping bigger fences (courses of 80/90cm
and single jumps at 1m). Have knowledge and experience of dressage and
lateral movements.
You must attend an Advanced Observation to ride in this group.

competitive BUCS team!
It really doesn't matter if you don't know anyone from
the club, we are very welcoming! If you get the train to your lesson you are likely to see the group of people wearing
riding gear, just come over and chat to us! If you are getting a lift your driver will be friendly and you will get to know them along the journey.
All of our instructors are lovely and happy to answer any questions, as are our Committee who you will inevitably
bump into along the way!
If you'd like to get to know more club
members then why not come along to
one of our Socials?
