Horseball is split into beginner and returner sessions and we have started to introduce a more structured system so that teams of players can play together consistently.
In the beginners session you will get a feel for riding with your stirrups strapped together, with knotted reins and with minimal use of your hands. You'll practice passing the ball between players in walk and trot, shooting from halt and while moving and eventually how to pickup from halt and then from walk.
Once you move up to the experienced sessions you'll be passing more quickly in trot and canter, learning the tactical elements such as how to defend and attack, and you'll learn how to pickup in trot and canter.
How do I sign up?
Training this year is every Thursday during term time 5-6pm and 6-7pm and each training session costs £20, payable via the tab on the SU website. You will be asked on the sign up form which session time you would prefer though we cannot guarantee this.
Training is at Long Lane equestrian Centre
If you would like to join Horseball you must be
able to ride in the novice lesson as this level of riding ability is needed to ensure our Horseball sessions are safe for horses and riders.
To get involved either join our Facebook group or email us:
You will then be able to sign up through the
weekly sign up forms and you'll be informed about transport arrangements
